We’d love to keep them all but we just simply don’t have the room.

We’re offering a great group of 7 male alpacas for just $2400! Six of them are suris and one is a huacaya. But that is not all we’re offering, take delivery before Christmas 2010 and we’ll throw in 5 hay bales of nice orchard grass hay per alpaca FREE!!! Take all 7 alpacas and get 35 bales of orchard grass hay, it may not be enough to last until spring but it would get you most of the way there.

This would be a great group for someone that just wants some fiber animals. Some of the males are still intact, but at this price they come with no guarantees, but you could use them for breeding if you want. If you don’t want all seven alpacas, we’ll break the package up so you can mix and match them. The only stipulation would be that JJ & Thomas stay together.

All 7 of these pictured alpacas plus 35 bales of orchard grass hay for only $2400!!!

? We finally got our second cutting of orchard grass hay made for the alpacas.? Rick from Rick’s Custom Baling went all out again to get it down for us, and he did an excellent job.? There are some weeds in the hay bales?but the alpacas will just eat around them for the nice soft orchard grass hay.? The downside is that I’ll need to be cleaning the hay feeder of the stuff they wont eat.

? We did get about 100 bales more than we need of second cutting orchard grass hay so if you are interested in some nice alpaca hay let us know, it would also be good for other livestock.? Through November 2008 the price per bale will be $5, as the winter progresses the price will most likely increase.? Unfortunately we can’t deliver it so you will need to pick it up at the farm.? We can help load?a truck if necessary.

We will be having it available at our upcoming open house, so if you’re interested you may want to get your hay before then.

? May 30th was a big day for Big Rock Alpaca Farm.? With all the rain we’ve been having this spring getting good hay made was looking to be a real challenge.? Rick from Rick Jones Custom Baling did a wonderful job of getting our hay made for us during one of the few three day windows of sunny weather.? One of the advantages we had was that most of our field is pretty high.? There was one low section that was still too wet to get into without tearing up the ground.? We got nearly 300 bales from the field this year, up from 250 last year for the first cutting.? The grass is getting thicker and the rain really helped it grow in good.? Now hopefully we’ll continue to get some rain so we get a good second cutting which is what we’re really interested in for the alpacas.? The field is all grass, primarily orchard grass which alpacas love.

Below is a picture of Rick doing the baling.
